Abstract (English)  :

Reviewed 1885 CS in 1992. The hospital CS rate was 28.7%, 34% of which were repeat CS. Elective repeat was the leading indication followed by "other", dystocia, breech and fetal distress. In contrast, dystocia was the leading cause for primary CS followed by "other", fetal distress, breech. 15.6% undergoing repeat CS had absolute or relative contraindications to VBAC. Conc= current recommendations for lowering CS rates by inc. VBAC are based on aggregate data and do not recognize that some repeat CS are clinically indicated.
