Abstract (English)  :

Conclusions

Skills and practices in physiological management are based on evidence derived from work on physiological processes grounded in normality. It is important for midwives to demonstrate an understanding of this evidence and articulate it as a rationale for using this approach to practice. Awareness that women who choose a physiological third stage based on comprehensive information will inevitably present the best argument against a universal practice of active management.
