Résumé (français)  :

L’analyse de la littérature montre peu d’avantages à une utilisation large de l’épisiotomie, qui entraîne des interventions périnéales nombreuses, sans diminuer le risque de déchirure sévère et sans procurer de bénéfice à long terme sur le plancher périnéal. Les études randomisées ont montré que l’usage restrictif de l’épisiotomie était préférable à l’usage habituel et qu’un taux supérieur à 30% était injustifié.
