Cet article contredit une étude de de Leeuw http://afar.info/id=2258 qui concluait que, finalement, avec forceps/ventouse, il faudrait faire une épisiotomie. D. Riethmulle (Besançon) met en avant les biais et insuffisances de cette étude, et conclut par ses propres chiffres :

“Pour exemple, notre expérience personnelle nous permet, avec 9,6 % d’épisiotomies associées à l’extraction instrumentale (3,4 % sur l’ensemble des accouchements par voie basse), d’annoncer un taux de moins de 6% de lésions complètes du sphincter anal, taux non supérieur à celui de la population générale.“
